About 20 years ago the Kwality restaurant was considered one of the top restaurants in this city. Now the competition is manifold, but Kwality chain is holding it's own. It is run by people from Punjab who have settled in Calcutta. They have not made much change to their interior which is a negative but their Sandwich and Chai were excellent.

Centralized and Decentralized Control
In the US when you talk to a front desk employee (airline or similar), they have a lot of authority and seldom have to refer to somebody higher up, not so in India (or even Europe).

When our flight from Bangkok to Calcutta got cancelled, Cathay Pacific Bangkok endorsed our tickets to be used with other airlines. When we arrived in India the same Cathay pacific employees refused to endorse the tickets for our future flight changes. They sent us to the other airline office, and the story was same there, no individual was willing to help, and we were given the run around, till we managed to reach somebody of higher authority, and that person again referred us to somebody at another office, finally we have given up and are just keeping our fingers crossed.

We have finished my packing, 2 suitcases full of stuff. By now we have a good estimate of baggage weight restriction limits. I am bringing back my Sony Video laptop to be fixed in the US. It is raining here in Calcutta. We are trying to arrange our transportation for the day of the flight (Friday AM). Tomorrow is my last day till my trip back in December 16. We will do our last minute shopping tomorrow, for this we will get a car for a full day outing.

I have like 5 hours of wait in Bangkok and I plan to get a foot massage. Flying Cathay Pacific frequently has given me the club privileges for the first time, I am still not used to it and trying to make the best of it.

Besides shopping and eating out we got little work done for Sangita’s website, books, greeting cards etc. Sangita will carry on the battle for the next month and hopefully the month of December will bring us better news.
