So I went airline hopping again, my first stop was Druk Air (Bhutanese airline). They would have almost gotten me on time for my connecting flight from BKK to HK, but life is not so smooth or simple, I had more to contend with. Druk had recently changed their schedule and they no longer flew on Fridays to BKK. By now it was 8AM.

The next choice was Jet Airways, so as soon as their counter opened I asked if they had any seats available, they made me run around and buy a ticket and also charged me extra for the US standard regulation baggage weights, thus final damage being 250 USD. The ghost was slowly vanishing and the mist was clearing.

I left Calcutta around 12 noon, and arrived in BKK at 4PM (local time), my next flight was scheduled for 4:30PM, so I was hoping to catch this flight but the BKK airport Cathay Pacific folks informed me that I will be booked on the 7pm flight to HK. Finally somebody was working for me instead of giving me the run around. They got my baggage from Jet Airways over to CX (Cathay Pacific) by just calling over the phone. They also give me a pass to hang out in the airline lounge (free snacks, net, shower etc). I arrived in HK around 11PM local time and finally checked into my hotel at 12 midnight.

This adventure thus let me have my one day more in HK to rest before my flight to SFO on Nov 4, and not get charged by the hotel, for missed reservations. I called Sangita (9:30 PM in Calcutta) and let her know my status and basically she suggested that I get a massage to relax, the one that I hoped for in the BKK airport.

So Sangita is back in Calcutta, she did lots of phone calling and explaining my plight to airlines folks, and she also got her Indian Airlines flight transferred to Thai airways for an earlier (Jan 3- 2008) flight. Now that makes it easy for me to reschedule my flights here in the US as my local Sunnyvale travel agent will handle my tickets ( I hope so ).

Our bad luck still continues as Sangita informed me that her working laptop has decided to take some extended rest. I have minimal confidence in getting it fixed in Calcutta. So Sangita now has to find a browsing center (cyber cafe) to get net connectivity.
